Empowering Students with Responsible Digital Skills
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming a part of our everyday lives—from education and communication to creativity, search, and entertainment. But with these opportunities come new challenges related to privacy, misinformation, deepfakes, cyber fraud, and the misuse of personal data. To create awareness about these emerging challenges, Chhabi Vishwa Foundation, in association with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, organized a one-day workshop on “Safe and Secure Use of Artificial Intelligence” at Mount Carmel School, Pabau, Pauri Garhwal.
🔐 Learning AI with Safety in Mind
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Atul Bamrara, Cyber Ambassador, MeitY, who interacted with students and teachers and explained how AI is transforming the digital environment. Rather than viewing AI simply as a tool for generating answers, images, videos, or text, participants were encouraged to understand what happens to the information they provide to AI systems and why responsible use is important. The session covered several important areas, including:
- AI-generated images, videos, and deepfakes
- Privacy and protection of personal information
- Risks of uploading photographs and documents to unknown AI platforms
- AI-enabled cyber fraud and social engineering
- Fake news, misinformation, and manipulated content
- Voice cloning and identity impersonation
- Safe use of AI applications and websites
- Strong passwords and two-factor authentication
- Responsible and ethical use of AI in education
🧠 Think Before You Upload
One of the key messages of the workshop was that convenience should not come at the cost of privacy. Students were encouraged to think carefully before uploading their photographs, identity documents, school records, voice samples, or other sensitive information to AI applications. The workshop also highlighted how seemingly harmless photographs can potentially provide valuable information about a person, including facial features and contextual details. Participants were therefore encouraged to check the privacy policy, permissions, reputation, and purpose of an AI platform before using it.
🎭 Understanding the Deepfake Challenge
A special focus was placed on deepfakes and synthetic media. Students learned that AI can now create highly realistic images, videos, and voices that may appear genuine even when they are completely fabricated. The participants were introduced to simple verification habits: pause, verify the source, check the context, compare information with reliable sources, and avoid immediately sharing sensational content.

The workshop emphasized that technological literacy must go hand in hand with cyber hygiene and digital responsibility. Students are not merely consumers of technology; they are becoming active participants in an increasingly AI-driven digital society. The session concluded with a message that AI should be used creatively and productively, but with awareness, verification, privacy protection, and ethical responsibility. The initiative by Chhabi Vishwa Foundation in association with MeitY provided students and teachers with practical knowledge to navigate the rapidly changing AI landscape while keeping safety, security, and responsible digital citizenship at the center.
