Students of Thakurnagar Take the Stage for Cancer Awareness and Learning
Communities thrive when creativity, social awareness, and collective responsibility come together. In an inspiring effort to engage young minds and spread vital public health consciousness, the Chhabi Sewa Foundation organized a dynamic awareness campaign at Thakurnagar, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal in supervision of CSF Lead Rathin Ray. Combining performing arts, academic challenges, and community dialogue, the initiative brought together students, educators, local leaders, and police administration to spotlight two essential pillars of societal well-being: Cancer Awareness and the Importance of Education.
The day commenced with tremendous enthusiasm as young participants demonstrated that age is no barrier to becoming ambassadors of community health. Rather than relying solely on traditional lectures, the foundation utilized creative media to make critical topics like early cancer detection, healthy living, and the life-changing value of schooling accessible and engaging for everyone present.
A centerpiece of the gathering was the staging of two poignant short dramas conceived and performed by local students. The first play delicately addressed the warning signs of cancer, dismantling prevailing social stigmas and emphasizing the lifesaving impact of timely medical intervention. The second performance underscored the transformative power of education in breaking generational cycles of hardship and opening doors to personal dignity and progress. The audience was deeply moved by the conviction of the young actors, with Sithi Biswas and Apurba Hazra earning well-deserved Special Prizes for Drama for their standout stage portrayals.
The spirit of healthy competition continued throughout the day with a series of artistic and intellectual contests. In the vibrant Dance Competition centered on themes of life and resilience, Adrija Das secured the first prize, followed by Swagota Bala in second place and Parthiv Baidya taking third. Academic agility took center stage during the Quiz Competition, where Group B champions Rupam Mondal, Prothama Biswas, Parthib Baidya, and Souvic Ghosh demonstrated sharp intellect and teamwork across rounds covering general knowledge, health, and scientific literacy. Alongside these live contests, the foundation concluded its previously organized Poster Making and Essay Competitions with an official prize distribution ceremony, honoring students whose written thoughts and visual artworks reflected deep maturity regarding public health and education.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries who lent their guidance and encouragement to the gathering. The Chief Guest, Officer-in-Charge Suvashis Dutta of Gaighata Police Station, praised the young learners for their active civic awareness and highlighted how positive collaboration between communities and local administration builds safer, healthier neighborhoods. The program was further enriched by the presence of prominent guests Sudeb Dey, Nidhis Ray, Tusher Biswas, and Abhijit Mondal, each of whom shared inspiring words of motivation with the gathering.
The successful execution and high standard of the student presentations were made possible through the committed mentorship of local school teachers Dipayan Pramanik, Chinmay Kanti Majumder, Anirvan Majumder, and Utpal Sarkar, whose active participation reaffirmed the vital link between schools and grassroots social transformation.
